Tree Pruning with Leslie Buck

We had the pleasure of getting a beautiful lesson in tree pruning by Leslie Buck this weekend. Leslie has been a natural garden designer and aesthetic pruner in the San Francisco Bay Area for over two decades. During that time, she has lectured regularly and led many workshops. She studied in Kyoto with Uetoh Zoen, one of the oldest and most highly acclaimed landscape companies in Japan. She is the author of the book “Cutting Back: My Apprenticeship in the Gardens of Kyoto.”

With the subtlety and patience of a master of her craft, she spent the weekend teaching a group of 20 Land volunteers the foundations of pruning. With an orchard of over 70 fruit trees, she guided us on understanding the care, health, and aesthetics for best pruning practices.
