Our Songs To Lift Their Spirits Are Now Being Played Through All of California State Prisons

The generosity of our students in our Art of Soulmaking course at a state facility in California has naturally drawn out the creativity of our volunteers. Since experiencing their vulnerability and willingness, we’ve felt called to offer more of ourselves in the exchange too. Some of our musically inclined volunteers got together to form a band that shares original songs inspired by The Art of Soulmaking book and our correspondence with our students. They call themselves The Chowchilla Blues Band, and here is their first song, Loving Tree. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is in the process of approving the band’s music videos to air on their closed-circuit broadcast across all California prisons.
