New Italian Bees

Today we got 2 new bee boxes. They are an Italian variety, well known for a variety of great traits, such as their gentleness, fertility, reluctance to swarm, zeal for building comb, white honey-cappings, a willingness to enter supers, cleanliness, resistance to disease, and the tendency to collect flower honey rather than honeydew.

We put the bee hives in a more ideal location this year, southern facing, by the pond, in some light mid-day shade, out of the way of most foot traffic.

Our fruit trees are blossoming, and our flowers are about to come up soon. Perfect time for honey bees.
